Cancer Mission Day 2026 - images and interviews

We are thrilled about the fantastic turnout for Cancer Mission Day in Almedalen!

Thank you to all our partners and everyone who participated on June 25 in Almedalen. We are proud and grateful to have been part of such an important and inspiring day.

Cancer Mission Day brought together leading stakeholders from healthcare, research, government agencies, industry, and civil society to jointly explore how prevention, precision medicine, health data, and new ways of working could strengthen both patient outcomes and Sweden’s competitiveness. Through cross-sector dialogue and concrete examples, the day demonstrated how the cancer strategy could be put into action—from early detection and data-driven innovation to equitable follow-up and improved quality of life.

The day concluded with the launch of SweCan, Sweden’s Cancer Mission Hub, where unexpected encounters became the driving force for the next step in systemic transformation.

Interviews with participants from our seminar – Preparedness and Geopolitics Make Cancer Care and Cancer Research a Security Issue

In a new security policy landscape, cancer care, pharmaceuticals, medical technology, and health data have become part of society’s critical infrastructure. The seminar explored how to ensure robust cancer care, research, and clinical trials even in times of crisis and war—and how to strengthen the resilience of Sweden’s Life Science sector.

With rising geopolitical tensions, vulnerable supply chains, and increasing cyber threats, diagnostics, drug supply, radiation therapy, and health data management must be integrated into Sweden’s civil preparedness and total defense planning. Through scenario-based panel discussions, the seminar highlighted cancer care as critical societal infrastructure, pharmaceuticals and medical technology as strategic resources, and how research, data assets, and international collaboration can reinforce system resilience—while safeguarding patient access to innovative treatments and maintaining Sweden’s global competitiveness in Life Science.
